STAIRLIFTS

Straight & Curved Stairlifts

“I wish I’d installed a stairlift sooner, it has given me a whole new lease of life“ is the regular comment we receive from our stairlift clients. Finding it difficult to get up and the down your stairs can be daunting and the decision to install a stairlift in your home is not often an easy one. At MMS Medical we know the concerns people have as we have been installing stairlifts nationwide for over 30 years.

Unless you know someone, who is already using a stairlift you may be a little unsure of what is involved in the process. It is a common misperception that stairlifts are fixed to the wall, in most cases they are fixed directly to the staircase itself and are generally fitted in a couple of hours. A stairlift has three basic components – a track which is fitted to the staircase, the power pack to move the seat and finally the seat itself.

We supply a wide range of seat options to meet the needs of the user. Our extensive fabric range ensures that the stairlift will blend seamlessly into your décor. There are two types of stairlift: Straight and Curved. Straight stairlifts operate in a straight line and cannot travel around any bend or corner. Curved stairlifts can travel around corners, across intermediate landings and even up spiral staircases.

Broadly speaking stairlifts fall into two categories – Straight and Curved. If your home has a straight staircase that runs from a hall directly up to a landing, then a Straight Stairlift is the ideal option. If there are any bends, corners, intermediate landings then a curved stairlift is the correct option for your home.  Our stairlift product specialist will carry out an at home survey to determine the best track, seat and optional extras to meet your individual needs.

All our stairlifts are bespoke to your home so the price varies from customer to customer. It is a popular misconception that stairlifts are fixed to the wall. This is rarely the case. Your new stairlift will be fitted to your staircase over your existing carpet not the wall. In some instances, you may need to have a handrail moved or a window sill reduced to avoid clashes with your new stairlift in which case some minor redecorating may be preferred.

Our highly skilled installers will fit your stairlift in a couple of hours and will ensure your home is neat and tidy after installation.

We are very conscious that some people worry about the operation of a stairlift. All our stairlifts are easy to use with simple operating toggle. The toggle is located at the end of the seat arm and it can be easily operate.

At MMS Medical user safety is paramount. All our Bespoke stairlifts have safety sensors /stop sensors on the Synergy Straight Stairlift and the Infinity Curved Stairlifts stops the stairlift from moving if an obstacle is in its way.
